New Product Release
With an updated version of
their popular Classic Vest, Silver Eagle Outfitters
offers even more style and cooling comfort
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - February 10, 2005 Silver Eagle
Outfitters, the leading designer and manufacturer of
evaporative cooling apparel and products, announces
the updated release of their popular Classic Cooling
Vest. Following on the heels of its rapid summer
sell-out, the redesigned Classic vest is available
in both men’s and women’s styles and offers
innovative enhancements to the original Classic Vest
for increased style and performance.
According to Nancy Keen, Silver Eagle Outfitters
cofounder, the development of the new design is just
another step in Silver Eagle’s progress toward
redefining the look of cooling apparel. “Our
customers love the Classic Vest because it works
wonderfully to cool them without looking like a
traditional cooling vest,” said Keen. “With our new
vests, we are just exceeding our customers’
expectations in style, comfort, and effectiveness.”
Silver Eagle’s three-layer fabric design sandwiches
a super-absorbent fiber core between carefully
selected performance fabrics to offer easy,
effective, ultra-lightweight cooling relief without
substantial weight or bulk. No chemicals, gels,
icepacks, or refrigeration are required to activate
the cooling process. Instead, Silver Eagle garments
are submerged in water for a few minutes, and the
special construction of the fabric absorbs and
retains the optimal amount of water without swelling
or over saturation. Over time, this moisture is
released through evaporation to produce gentle
cooling. Worn dry, the vest provides an effective
barrier to wind and cold.
The following are some of the other design features
associated with the new men’s and women’s Classic
Vests, which are available in Classic Black and
Santa Fe Silver:
-
An
outer shell made of DuPont Cordura®, the
longstanding tough guy of the fabric world.
Cordura is a high-performance fabric, resistant
to abrasions, tears, scuffs, and punctures, with
outstanding lightness, and easy care.
-
Waterproof binding made of 500D Coated Cordura
-
A new
Teflon® HT fabric protector on the inner liner,
offering longer-lasting water repellency to
withstand frequent washing and drying cycles
throughout the life of the garment. This new DWR
replaces the standard DWR coating to make the inner
liner more durable and more effective in keeping
moisture from activation from reaching the wearer’s
skin.
-
New inner
pockets for more storage space. In addition to the
outside zippered-closure pockets offered on the
men’s Classic Vest, the updated version of both the
men’s and women’s vests will offer two inside
pockets made of the same moisture-repelling fabric
as the inner liner to keep the contents of the
pockets dry, even when the vest is activated.
-
More
true-to-size fitting. The new Classic Vest
eliminates the need for sizing guesswork.
Additionally, a slightly longer waist accentuates
the new design for a better fit.
-
Like all
Silver Eagle products, the Classic vest is completely
machine-washable.
-
Available in sizes
small through 4XL.

New Product Release
Silver Eagle Outfitters to
showcase protective cooling apparel
at the FPED V demonstration in Quantico, Virginia
April 29-28, 2005
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - February 24, 2005 Perhaps the
least recognized dangers facing those employed at
any level of our nation's defense are the
debilitating threats of heat stress and sun
exposure. To address this, Silver Eagle Outfitters,
the leading manufacturer of cooling apparel made of
a specially-engineered, evaporative cooling fabric,
will showcase their line of cooling vests, headwear,
and blankets at the Force Protection Equipment
Demonstration V in Quantico, Virginia, on April
26-28, 2005. The company hopes that the exposure
gained at the FPED V demonstration will make more
organizations and individuals involved with force
protection aware of the choices available to battle
heat-related dangers.
As more studies illustrate the dangers of
heat-related illness, finding a reasonable way to
combat heat stress, which causes muscle cramps,
fatigue, irritability, poor judgment, and increased
numbers of accidents, has been a frustrating quest,
especially when the issues of bulk, movement
restriction, and weight are such important factors.
Silver Eagle offers an alternative to the heavier
and more costly solutions with its unique
three-layer evaporative cooling fabric. Rather than
using cooling gels, chemicals, or ice packs, Silver
Eagle products are easily activated in minutes with
water to provide hours of effective,
non-restrictive, lightweight cooling relief.
According to Bill Case, Cofounder of
Silver Eagle Outfitters, the convenience and
physical benefits of their cooling products will
allow more people involved in force protection to
stay safe and active in warm temperatures. "The
fabric we use to construct our garments has been
proven in university tests to minimize increases in
core temperature and preserve the body's core
temperature range. Additionally, it reduces heart
rate elevation and thermal and cardiovascular strain
while reducing the wearer's level of dehydration by
21 percent. This lends to a dramatic increase in the
wearer's endurance."
Silver Eagle Outfitters creates their
cooling apparel for any individual who is exposed to
heat and the associated risks of heat and
sun-related illnesses. "We have customers who buy
products for numerous applications, whether they use
them for recreational purposes, for work, or are
living with an illness that requires assisted
temperature regulation for comfort," said Nancy
Keen, Silver Eagle Outfitters Cofounder. "While we
continually add to the variety of apparel that we
offer, we've made special considerations for the
requirements of all organizations involved in force
protection and try to use designs and fabrics to
accommodate their needs."
Among the company's headwear options,
which include cooling ball caps, helmet liners,
cooling neck shades, and Do-Rags, is the new Silver
Eagle wide-brim Kula™ hat. The entire hat, including
the three-inch brim and cool-comfort headband, is
made of Silver Eagle's evaporative cooling fabric
for easy care and breathability. Snap buttons on
each side of the cap allow the brim to be worn up or
down, while a leather retention snap that wraps
around the chin to keep the hat in place. Rated with
an ultraviolet protective factor (UPF) rating of 50
(the highest rating available), the Kula hat
provides "EXCELLENT" UV protection from the sun's
damaging rays. For additional cooling and added sun
protection, a matching attachable neck cover made of
the same cooling fabric is also available.
Like the Kula Hat, Silver Eagle's
rugged cooling Utility Vests are also designed to
provide the strength, durability, and performance
demanded in outdoor apparel. These vests are
available in pullover and zip-front styles featuring
a lightweight, quick-dry outer shell that resists
odours, abrasions, punctures, and tears. The vest is
available with a Day Desert Camo or khaki or with an
ANSI certified high-visibility lime-green or
fluorescent orange outer shell. The high-visibility
vest is offered with or without reflective tape that
meets the Class 2, Level 2 ANSI High Visibility.
The company's CoolQuilt™ Cooling Blanket is yet
another product in the Silver Eagle line that proves
beneficial in a variety of applications. Available
in khaki and royal blue, the three and a half by
five-foot blanket offers full coverage cooling.
Silver Eagle's cooling apparel is not
solely for the humans involved in the nation's
security. The company also produces a Cooling K9
vest in sizes to fit almost any dog. Once activated,
the vest's Velcro® straps wrap around the dog's
stomach to hold it in place to offer two to four
hours of non-restrictive cooling comfort.
The Force Protection Equipment
Demonstration is a recurring event that gives
companies the opportunity to demonstrate
state-of-the-art equipment that may serve as
materiel solutions to force protection needs. The
demonstration is scheduled for 26-28 April 2005 at
the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia. More
information about the FPED V demonstration can be

Evaporative Cooling and UPF 50+ with Style
Silver Eagle Outfitters Announces New Kula™
Wide-Brim Hat for Sun Protection and Heat Relief
Silver Eagle Outfitters, known for
its affordable and functional heat stress prevention
apparel throughout the United States, introduces
their sun-protective wide-brimmed Kula™ hat to its
Australian and New Zealand customers just in time to
ward off the threats of summer’s impending
temperature spike.
Named after the Kula agricultural
district in East Maui, Hawaii, where higher
elevations and semi-arid Trade Winds maintain a cool
and comfortable year-round climate, the comfort
benefits of the Kula wide-brim hat prove it worthy
of its name. Like all Silver Eagle evaporative
cooling products, when activated with water, the
Kula is designed to work with nature to provide
continuous, effective relief from high temperatures
for two to five hours, depending on the climate and
environmental conditions
“As with all of our products, we
worked through numerous prototypes of the Kula hat
to ensure the end product offers maximum performance
and durability. Our design efforts resulted in
added style and superior protection from ultraviolet
radiation in addition to providing cooling relief
from the heat,” said Nancy Keen, Silver Eagle
Outfitters Cofounder. With an ‘Excellent’
ultraviolet protective factor (UPF) rating of 50+,
the Kula hat complies with AS/NZS 4399:1996 which
offers unsurpassable sun protection by blocking
98%-plus of the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays
linked to skin cancer and premature aging.
Equivalent to its unmatched qualities
of heat- and sun-protection, the classic design and
fitted style of the Kula hat make it ideal for any
outdoor activity.
-
The outer shell of the hat is made of a durable,
quick dry, natural weave desert khaki fabric for
easy care and breathability
-
An 8cm wide brim constructed of
two layers of Silver Eagle’s evaporative cooling
material works to retain the brim’s shape while
offering cooling shade.
-
The ultra-soft, internal headband
made from evaporative cooling fabric wicks away
perspiration and enhances the evaporative
cooling effect.
-
A nylon liner with durable,
water-repellent (DWR) finish keeps the wearer
dry and comfortable.
-
Brass ventilation holes in the
crown of the hat increase air circulation and
evaporation to enhance the cooling effect.
-
Snap buttons on each side allow
the brim to be worn up or down, while a leather
retention snap wraps around the chin to keep the
hat in place.
-
Suggested retail price for the
Kula hat, available in sizes S-XL, is $88.00
(inc gst). For additional cooling and added
sun protection, a matching, one-size- fits-all,
attachable neck cover is available for $22.00
(inc gst)
Like all Silver Eagle products, the
Kula wide-brim hat is completely machine-washable.

With temperatures soon on the rise, Silver Eagle Outfitters
offers clothing and blankets to bring relief for people living with
Multiple Sclerosis
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama—February 11, 2005—
For those who are already looking ahead to how
they can protect themselves from the fatigue and frustration that
accompanies the thermometer’s rise, one company, Silver Eagle
Outfitters, offers a variety of evaporative cooling vests, headwear,
and blankets to bring cooling relief to the heat-induced issues
plaguing many who live with Multiple Sclerosis.
Rather than using cooling gels or ice packs,
Silver Eagle garments are constructed of a patented, three-layer
evaporative cooling fabric. Practical and machine washable, Silver
Eagle vests, headwear, and blankets require only a few minutes in
water for the cooling process to begin. As the moisture evaporates,
a water-resistant liner pulls heat and moisture away from the skin
to keep the wearer cool and dry. Fully activated, the apparel
remains ultra-lightweight and breathable, offering hours of
consistent cooling comfort that works to maintain the wearer’s core
body temperature—all while increasing the wearer’s endurance and
physical performance.
“In the process of studying
the benefits of using cooling methods to combat MS-related fatigue,
we realized that MS patients are being limited to cumbersome and
expensive cooling garments and equipment,” said Nancy Keen,
Cofounder of Silver Eagle Outfitters. “It only makes sense that the
lightweight quality and stylish design of our apparel would be more
beneficial to someone who is looking for effective, inconspicuous
cooling relief.”

fit for every lifestyle and budget:

cooling Utility Vests are designed to provide strength, durability,
and performance. These quilted vests are available in pullover and

New Product Release
The new Cooling Neck Shade from Silver Eagle Outfitters
offers a better way to keep your cool when working in the heat
HUNTSVILLE,
Alabama—February 11, 2005— Designed
to fit standard hardhat liners and ball caps, the new Cooling Neck
Shade from Silver Eagle Outfitters, the leaders in evaporative
cooling product design and manufacturing, offers convenient cooling
relief to outdoor workers and outdoors enthusiasts who know too well
the danger and discomfort of the heat.
Like Silver Eagle’s other headwear, vests, and
blankets, the new Cooling Neck Shade is made of the company’s
patented three-layer evaporative cooling fabric that works with
water to offer hours of effective cooling. The cooling process is
activated when water is added to the fabric, either from a running
tap, submersion in a sink, or in a zip-lock activation bag. Once
activated, the evaporative cooling process lasts from three to five
hours, depending on environmental conditions. For convenience, the
shade can be activated up to 24 hours in advance and stored in a
water-tight bag or container, allowing a wearer to alternate Neck
Shades even when water is not available or when there is no time to
wait for the five to ten minute reactivation process. When not
activated, the fabric serves as effective insulation to keep the
wearer warm.
According to Silver Eagle Outfitters Cofounder,
Nancy Keen, the neck Shade is constructed to offer year-round
comfort and safety while enduring the rigors of the industrial
workplace, but it is also recognized for its use in recreation. “One
of our dealers who works with construction companies and road crews
specified a need for our Neck Shade, so we designed it with those
customers in mind. However, we have found that they are popular
among those who appreciate the added comfort while sitting at ball
games or when enjoying other outdoor activities.”
Designed to completely cover the ears and neck
without hindering the wearer’s movement or peripheral vision, the
Neck Shade is constructed using durable, breathable outer shell
fabrics, which include the wearer’s choice of high-visibility
fluorescent yellow polyester or desert camo patterned Taslan, and a
durable water repellant-coated liner to keep the wearer dry. The
shade measures eleven inches long, while its bottom width of 21
inches tapers at the top to allow the Neck Shade to easily attach to
the suspension system of a standard hardhat or to a ball cap.
Cutouts for the wearer’s shoulders permit it to comfortably wrap
around the neck and ears for more complete cooling comfort and
shade.
“Like all of our garments in our industrial line, we focused on
durability and quality while keeping the price affordable,” said
Keen. “There are similar items out there, but ours is designed to
offer lightweight, effective, all-season relief from the elements.”
